Longwood Gardens
If you don’t mind a bit of a drive, Longwood Gardens, located in Kennett Square, PA near Philadelphia, is a great place for plant lovers and architecture enthusiasts. They have over 1,000 acres of indoor and outdoor gardens, fields, and forests! A great place to spend the day with multiple places to capture that new Instagram photo.
Knoebels Amusement Resort
Calling all amusement park lovers, Knobels Grove is an independent park situated in Elysburg, PA in the middle of the woods! You can take a ride on the Number 1 Wooden Roller Coaster in the world, take a dip in the swimming pool, or practice your put on the mini golf course. The best part is admission into the park and parking are free!
Little League World Series
One of the biggest sporting events in America happens under 2 hours away from State College! If you love baseball or any kind of sport, the Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA is a great event to go to. Even better, the games are free to get in and there’s a museum that shows the history of the Little League World Series. Make sure to take your cardboard box so you can “sled” down the hill!
Pennsylvania Grand Canyon
Though much smaller than the Grand Canyon in Arizona, the PA Grand Canyon is a great place to visit if you love driving through the mountain, hiking on trails, and photographing wildlife. It’s situated in Wellsboro, PA, a small town that offers great lunch spots and local shops!
Ricketts Glen State Park
Located in Benton, PA, Ricketts Glen has one of the largest waterfalls in the country! You can hike the trail down to see the 94-foot Ganoga Falls, fish in Lake Jean, or you can camp and explore everything that Ricketts Glen has to offer.
